Everyone has a story to tell. My particular talent is helping people realize the value of their story and understand how to present it effectively and in their own voice.
The best advice of my career was yelled to me from the production van interrupting my lengthy effort to establish the context for the speaker of my first video interview on location. “Ask him how he feels!” In that moment, I realized my job wasn’t to describe the details of my research or explain the subject as I understood it but to listen. My job was to ask questions and to make sure the essence of the story was captured clearly and concisely.
After conducting hundreds of interviews both as a television producer and as a public relations executive, I realized even “experts” can be poor storytellers. Celebrities, scientists, corporate executives, and political figures all struggle to find the right words and a natural approach to convey their messages.
To solve this problem, I founded ImageVisions. In this consultancy, I work with diverse clients to overcome personal communication concerns and strengthen individual communication styles. I coach clients on effective strategies to: address hard-hitting, probing questions; anticipate relevant sensitive issues; and maximize open-ended opportunities to define a story and connect with audiences. I produce videos to enhance presentations and to promote stories to broader audiences. I successfully manage complex situations and deliver on budget, on time, and with meaningful results.
Clients know me to be organized, respectful, and conscientious. I consult with senior management of global companies in the financial services, specialty chemicals, medical products, and pharmaceutical industries as well as with entrepreneurs, research scientists, and wounded warriors and high-ranking military officers.
My experience includes various production related roles: Vice President/Executive Producer, Daniel J. Edelman Public Relations; WBGH/PBS Boston; WMAQ/NBC Chicago; and WEDH/PBS Hartford. I received a BA from Trinity College, Hartford, CT, and an EdM from the Harvard University Graduate School of Education.
